Clean & Simple male cards

I brought a magazine recently with a set of male theme stamps and knew they would be perfect to make some C&S cards.

Thrify Thursday

I was lucky enough to pop into 3 op shops last Saturday and find some more goodies :) (Sorry about the photo quality, but the rain and dreary weather means bad lighting)

First shop I found this teal handbag for $3, then I managed to find matching necklace for $1 at the last shop - score!

In the second shop I found this cute apron. I know it sounds a little old-fashioned, but I wear aprons when I am cooking. I am a very messy cook - visualise the chef off "The Muppets" (showing my age there LOL)!

I found another great handbag - $4 - in the last shop.

I was lucky enought to find this cookbook for my MIL (my mum and I both have a copy of this book - it's our 'go to' biscuit book) for $2. Another exciting book find was book 1 in the Nightworld series for $3.50. I brought book 2 & 3 last year from a 2nd hand book shop and had been looking for book 1 - yay!

Reading

I loved this trilogy! I wasn't sure i would like the story, but once i started reading I couldn't put them down! After finishing book 1, I wasn't sure where the story would go in book 2, but it was fantastic! Book 3 was a little disappointing - the story was good, but I think the end was wrapped up quickly with some big gaps.

More washi tape cards

I loved how the last lot of washi tape cards I made turned out, so I thought I would make some more :) I made some changes to the design - I used coloured card base, used (recent purchase and new favourite) background stamps to add more colour and changed the position of the sentiment.

Tanya came over Wednesday and we spent the afternoon scrappping / cardmaking - I'm happy to say that my scrapping mojo is still here and I scrapped another 3 LOs :)

June swaps - Cards & embellishments

I had a lovely scrappy day on Sunday :) I popped into the markets and brought some new scrapping goodies (excited to FINALLY buy a Tim Holtz die I have been trying to buy for months), then spent the day at Simply Crafty. Pauline (Kaszazz) had organised for us to make 2x cards (will share pics tomorrow), chatted about the Brisbane scrap expo with the ladies that attended and managed to work on a few LO's.

We had our card and embellishment swap. This month's card theme was "Friendship".

My card

Amanda's card

Linda's card

Tanya's card

The embellishment swap was "Travel". I'm embarrassed to admit that I was a little slack this month - I just made map badges and included some cute plane / car shaped paperclips I brought for the swap.

Birthday cards

I meant to post earlier, but socialising, work and 2 days sick in bed made the week fly by! I wanted to share some cute handmade cards I got for my birthday on Wednesday. I had a wonderful day - I went out to lunch with my mum and lovely friends to celebrate (Craig was away at a conference for the day). Lots of chatting, getting spoilt with gorgeous presents and we had a yummy lunch (plus Cathie & her mum brought a delicous caramel cheesecake)!

Cathie's card

Kylie's card

Tanya's card

Bit random...but had to share a quick picture of the recent tomatoes and capsicums I picked from the vege garden :)

Camping

Nothing like spontaneous plans - on Wednesday we decided to go camping over the long weekend! Friday morning mum and I headed to Baffle Creek to set up the camper trailer and chill out for a couple of days. We had never been to the camp ground at Baffle Creek - so went for lots of walks and drives to have a look around. There was also lots of chatting, napping, reading and even watching movies (Mum packed her flat screen TV - talk about camping in luxury ROFL). Friday we checked out a few parks and boat ramps (trying to work out where the best fishing spot would be LOL).

Baffle Creek - Boat ramp at the caravan park

Flying fox colonies on the opposite bank on the creek

Rhules Beach

There was lots of lovely wildlife around the park - kangaroos, birds, wallabies, etc.

Saturday morning we went for a wander around the local markets. Mum managed to run into 3 people she knew and hadn't seen in over 10 years - how crazy! After some more napping and reading, we popped in to visit some friends for the arvo.

Craig had to work, so he was going to bring the boat up on Sunday for 2 days fishing. Unfortunately it started raining on Saturday night and was still drizzling on Sunday morning, so we decided to pack up and head home. After I got home, Craig & I went out to lunch with friends to catch up and meet their new babies :) Lots of cuddles and chatting! There was 3 1/2 weeks between the babies, but boy there was a big difference in size!! Craig with Emily (Donna's baby) and Jeanie with Boston (Nakia's baby) - clucky ducks!! LOL

Washi tape cards

I have a new addiction...washi tape! I am starting to get a collection (which I am using LOL) and have been looking for card / layout ideas. I found a this card and knew I had to CASE it :) This was the first time I have coloured in "people" images, so don't look too close at my colouring LOL I really enjoyed using colouring / blending techniques I had seen on various blogs / magazines and am very happy with the end result :) How adorable are the little girl / boy images?!?1 I realised I only have 3 people images in my stamp collection (all in freebie sets I got with magazines) - how funny!

I buy my washi tapes from D-Lish Scraps - I found them to be approx half the price of other stores and she has a HUGE variety to choose from. She has lots of other cute embellishments (love the resin flowers and cameos) - pop over and have a look :)

Crochet dress for a teddy bear

A few months ago Cathie's mum asked me to make something to dress this teddy bear in. She had brought a teddy for Mitchell when he was little and then one for Rylie - she wanted Rylie's to be different so Mitchell could tell them apart. After LOTS of procrastination and trying to work out HOW to make something to fit the teddy, I was lucky enough to see a picture of a toy in a crochet dress and knew it would be perfect!! So over the weekend, with the picture to work from and the teddy sitting next to me - I fumbled my way through working out the pattern and ended up making this sweet dress :) I used similar colours to the original dress (because they were perfect) and I love how it turned out!

Thrifty Thursday

I love having Wednesdays off - it gives me the chance to visit some op shops :) Yesterday I popped into 2 op-shops and found a few goodies.

I found this cheery yellow quiche dish for $4. Hmmm makes me want to go and bake a cheese & bacon quiche!

A set of cute pink bowls for 50c - I love the pink doiley design! Not sure if I will use these for storage in the scraproom or keep for serving dishes.

A cookbook for $1.50. I already have this cookbook, but thought I would pick it up for my mum. Originally mum gave me one she brought for 50c at a garage sale. I wasn't going to keep it cause I thought it was a basic cookbook, but after looking through the recipes I decided to keep it. It's one of my fave recipe books - it has the yummiest sausage roll, vanilla slice, etc recipes!! If you ever see one, I would suggest snapping it up!!

Show Time

The show was on last week and my brother Tim came down for a couple of days to compete in the rodeo. We (mum, Craig and I) went to the showgrounds every day to spend some time catching up with him. There was lots of teasing, clowning around and chatting :) When he arrived Thursday we went over to have lunch with him and then walked around and looked at the exhibitions, sideshow alley and helped mum choose showbags for the kids.

Friday night we went to watch him compete in the steer wrestling event at the rodeo.

I did try to take some photos, but with the average run being approx 4 sec I obviously didn't get any decent pics LOL A friend managed to video it on their phone though.

Saturday morning mum cooked up bacon & eggs and we (MIL Diane, mum and I) wend over to spend a few hours with Tim before he packed up to head to another rodeo in Miram Vale that night. Craig's mum loves horses, so she was in heaven to spend time wih Tim's horse :) It was also a good opportunity to get some pics of us all.
