Miara - Camping

We headed off Friday afternoon for a weekend away camping :)  We went to Miara which is about 35 mins outside of Bundaberg- which is a good thing, because we forgot to pack our bag of clothes so Craig had to do run back home Saturday morning LOL  We set up our camper, had a quick look at the river and then headed to the playground for a play, before having dinner and settling down for the night.

These poor scrub turkeys- for some unknown reason Clay took an instant disliking to them and would chase them, yelling and shaking his fist every time he would spot one lol

It rained during the night and we woke to some dark clouds, but had pancakes for breakfast and went off for a walk to look around a bit more.  We decided not to swim or paddle to due to strong current warning signs, but did splash in the water, built sandcastles and did some fishing instead.

After fishing and playing, we walked up to the playground where we met another family and got to chatting while the boys played.

Charcuterie board (a camping "must") for lunch and a rest, before heading off with the other family to go yabbying. I thought Clay might not be keen on grabbing the yabbies, but he was in there grabbing them and putting them in the bucket :)

We all headed back to the playground and met up with a 2nd family - so we chatted for 2 hours about all things camping and travelling.  They have given us a great list of places to stay and things to see & do on our trip to Winton next year!  It was starting to get dark, so we headed back to the camper for dinner, showers, some chill out time, then an early night after a big day!

This morning we woke up to overcast skies and a slight drizzle, so packed up most of the camping gear before heading to the river for a bit more fishing and used somw of the yabbies we caught yesterday didn't even get a nibble!

I think that's going to be our last camping trip for the year.  We have a few places on our "to visit" list and will hopefully be able to squeeze in a quick trip somewhere in January.
