Pool Renovations

Late last year we noticed our pool lining starting to lift / tear, so we got some quotes to replace it.  Unfortunately it's very expensive so we had to save up and get the job done, which meant we didn't use it over summer (and boy did we miss it!).  In June renovations finally started!!!  Not only was the lining being replaced,  we decided to get some minor work done it too - replacing broken tiles and most exciting....adding a step to make it easier for me to get in and out of the pool!

So here it is with the last of the disgusting water and the lining half pulled down (where the pool guy was checking behind it).

Lining all pulled out and tiles around the edge and on the entry step removed.

Step framework in place.

Step made and panels re-inforced.

Next came the tiles on the step and around the coping.

Decorative concrete (has flecks of blues and black through it) on the steps.  And tiles around entire edge of pool (it didn't have that before and we love how it looks !).

Liner clips in, ready for the final step...installing the liner and refilling the pool!

Monday the pool was all finished and filled with water ready to go!  Bring on Spring and Summer!!

Student of the Week

We are super proud of our little man - today he got Student of the Week!  School let us know Friday that he would be receiving an award at parade so that we we could be there.  We didn't tell him he was getting an award, but he knew something was up cause I stayed and went to parade with him LOL  He has settled well into Prep - we got his report card a few weeks ago and his learning / skills are excellent and his social skills are wonderful!

Brisbane / Gold Coast Long Weekend - Part 3

Saturday morning we headed to Surfers Paradise to go on the Aquaduck Tour! We drove around Surfers Paradise while they did a commentary about landmarks and history, then the bus transforms into a boat and we went up the river to see wildlife, amazing mansions and unbelievable yachts!  Clay thought it was amazing that the bus could float in the water :)

After the tour we headed back to Cavill Mall / Paradise Centre.  We stopped and got Clay a slurpee- he was so excited to make his own (he had every flavour in there LOL), the stopped at Krispy Kreme for donuts!

We walked across to the beach for a look, then back up the mall for a quick look around before heading to Pacific Fair for a late lunch.

We had a drive around looking at the fancy hotels, where the GC V8 track is, etc, then headed home for a quiet night in.  We enjoyed some easy cheese and meat platters for dinner and watched some movies.

Sunday morning we had some beakfast, packed our car up and made the long trip home.  It was a busy, but fun 4 days and we can't wait for our next trip!

Brisbane / Gold Coast Long Weekend - Part 2

Friday night we headed to The Bavarian to have dinner and catch up with our friend Chris :)  Craig had liked the restaurant page on FB and wanted to eat there, luckily we found one open.  It was a lovely night - yummy food and wonderful to see Chris!

Kristy and I shared a soft pretzel for an entree, Craig and Kristy split a shared meat platter with sauerkraut and red cabbage side and I had mac & cheese balls with smoked bacon and blue cheese mayo.  Chris had a rack of ribs and Clay had chicken and chips.  We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals!  Kristy drove us there so Craig could have a drink, so he had a VERY large beer LOL

Kristy and I couldn't resist taking some pics with the boy's beers LOL

Clay spotted this red tree at an Asian restaurant and asked Kristy to take a photo for him :)

After we got home Kristy had to make a birthday card for a friend, so we sat up and made a card each.

Brisbane / Gold Coast Long Weekend - Part 1

We headed to Brisbane early Thursday morning for hospital visits and visit Kristy.  My neurosurgeon appointment was first and wasn't until mid afternoon, so we stopped at a shopping centre to grab some lunch and have a look at the shops while we waited.  Clay spotted this giant teddy and wanted a photo :)  I got to pop into Daiso!

Good news from my appointment is that I have been officially discharged!  I still have a compressed spinal cord, but for now it doesn't require surgery, so I will carry on as normal until I have any issues. Craig and Clay went to a park to play while I had my appointment, then we headed to Kristy's.

Clay's appointment was Friday, we got there a bit early and were lucky enough to start all the tests / process straight away.  All up, we were there for 4 hours and Clay was a rock star as usual!

How cool is this Lego creation of the Children's hospital?!

Had to take photos with the bunny and crocodile again :)

After the hospital we headed back to the Gold Coast.  We popped into the shopping centre so we could take Clay to a cool playground to have a run around for a bit.
