Underwater World

Early Friday morning Mum and I headed to Mooloolaba to take the kids to Underwater World. The girls hadn't been there before and were so excited to be going.   We walked around and looked at all the displays.  Kate & James were on the Sunshine Coast (catching a flight to Sydney for the NRL grand finals) - so they joined us for the morning.

After seeing all the displays, we walked across the road to the wharf. there was a baby animal farm - so the kids had cuddles with the animals.

Wedding anniversary

Yesterday Craig and I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary. I don't want to get too lovey-dovey and soppy, but I married the love of my life. Craig surprised me by having this gorgeous bouquet of flowers, a balloon and a box of chocolates delivered to me at work.  I felt so loved and spoilt :)

Storm

I wanted to share these photos I took (on my phone) while we were driving home yesterday.  The cloud formation was a massive dome shape and the lightning was striking the ground - pretty scary!

While we were watching the storm we saw lightning strike the ground 3x times and started a fire!!  That's the smoke in the middle of the photo.  We made it home just as it started pouring down.

Cards, bulls and kids

Another busy weekend :) Friday night Cathie had a Kaszazz make & take. Wonderful to spend the night chatting with friends and making this gorgeous card.   Thank you to Pauline for teaching us some new techniques.

Saturday night we headed to the Beer Festibull. We watched the exciting professional bull riding.

Saw a beautiful fireworks display!   Still trying to work out the settings on my new camera.

Then my favourite part of the night...the Adam Brand concert!! I was in heaven - swoon!! Loved listening to all my fave songs and got to take LOTS of photos.

Sunday mum picked the girls up and we popped over to have dinner with them. All the kids are staying with her for the school holidays!! Looking forward to spending lots of time with them all :)   We have craft days, a trip to the Sunshine Coast, tea parties, bowling, dancing, etc planned while they are here :)

More beanies

Now that it's getting warmer I have decided to pack up my crochet hook and start looking around for some new crafts to keep me busy.  Before I packed up my hooks and wool though, I did crochet 3 more beanies that a friend asked me to make.  First up was a pink beanie for a 3 year old girl (this a pattern I've tried before and it's still a favourite).  I thought the painted wooden button was the perfect finishing touch!

Next up was a grey beanie for an 11 year old boy.  After a quick search around the WWW I found a great male pattern (I will be using this one a lot next Winter).

Last one was an owl beanie for a 4 month old boy :)

Thrifty Thursday

Mum and I did some op shopping today :)   As usual, I found some great bargains! This necklace was $3 and the cute diamante brooch was $2.

A pottery bowl for $1 - I was looking for a container to store my hairbands / clips and this was perfect!

More books - $2 each.

A cake decorating book ($2) and another Tupperware container ($3).

My most exciting find / best bargain of the day.... a book seat. I had considered buying one previously, but the $39.95 price tag put me off.  I am excited to share that I found this one brand new (still with label on) for $2.50!!! Even better - it's in my favourite colour PINK!

New glasses

I picked up my new glasses and contact lenses on Friday! My new frames are very different to my usual (rounder and lighter coloured) frames. After looking around and trying on what felt like every pair of frames in the shop, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and be "daring" with something new :D I love them!! Took a few selfies on my phone :)

Our cruise tickets arrived today - so excited!!! I have got the suitcases out and started packing a few bits & pieces already :)

Thrifty Thursday

A few lucky finds last week :)  First up was this cushion for $1.50. I have been working on a cute crochet cushion cover and have been on the look out for a round cushion insert.   I had looked around Spotlight and a few dept stores, but no-one sells round cushion inserts?!?! I guess I could have simply made one, but was feeling too lazy LOL This cushion is a bit bigger than the cushion cover I have made, so will crochet a few more rounds on both the front and back pieces.

I also found 2 more Tupperware containers - $1 each! I'm slowly trying to replace broken or missing pieces of plastic containers.

Wedding

Congratulations Virginia & Robert! Craig and I were honoured to attend a special wedding yesterday afternoon. It was a small wedding with family, us and another friend, so lovely to be thought of as family and invited to share in such a wonderful occasion. There was a lovely, intimate ceremony at the courthouse, followed by photos and a BBQ at their house. I thought I would share a few of my fave photos :)

Bicycle & washi tape cards

Just a few quick & easy cards to add to my stash :)  These were a 3 step process till I was happy with the final result.  Step 1 - stamped bicycle & sentiment and added washi tape.  Was a bit flat / boring so step 2 - add buttons.  Still not happy with the card (too much white space), so step 3 - use a die cut cloud and sponge ink to make a background.

Fairy cards

I got a super cute set of freebie stamps with Australian Simply Cards last month and knew they would be perfect to practice my colouring techniques :)  I'm really happy with how my shading technique is improving.  These cards are very clean & simple, but I did add some sparkly glitter (something a bit differnt to my usual cardmaking) and love how they turned out.
