Cooking

Craig has always been the "cook" at home - but since finishing work I have discovered a new found love of cooking which has surprised me and pleased Craig :) To encourage and help me, Craig and mum brought me about 10 Women's Weekly cook books and I have been slowly working my way through them. Every night I try a new recipe - with a few old favourites now & then. I have stepped out of my comfort zone and tried a lot of new styles / techniques.

After cooking lots of main meals I have decided to to try a few desserts / sweets. Last week I made a custard tart and vanilla slice - both dishes turned out wonderfully :) On the weekend I made fudgy-wudgy choc biscuits - seriously, that was what they are called LOL This week I'm going to make a few batches of biscuits and a slice.

Busy, busy, busy.

I thought I would have more time to blog since I stopped working, but I seem to be just as busy! LOL So just a quick catch up...

Valentine's Day was spent scrapping with the lovely ladies at Simply Crafty. I managed to scrap 1 1/2 cards and started working on a LO before I got distracted and spent the afternoon catching up with everyone. Craig and I usually just swap cards for Valentine's Day - this year I was surprised with a pot of hot pink mini-roses - my favourite! I scrapped this card for Inspired Blueprints card sketch #41.

Monday Cathie and Mitchell popped over for a visit - I can't believe how big he has gotten! He has the most gorgeous smile and laugh - future heart breaker! :) He kept me on my toes by commando rolling all around the floor!

Tuesday was spent op-shopping with mum - lots of fun! I managed to pick up 2 denim skirts to make more jeans bags. I also found a shabby chic style pillow case which I have cut up into sections to use on my jeans bags.

Wednesday I set up my sewing machine and finished this jeans bag and started working on a 2nd one.

Saturday morning I was up at 5am (crazy, I know) to go to the garage sales with mum. I managed to pick up a few scrapping bits & pieces - an extra large flower punch, some Sizzix dies, a box of Opals embossing powders and some stamps-bargain!

This week has been a bit quieter - I have been suffering from headaches :( I did spend Monday running errands and a bit of shopping with mum. Plus Craig and I finally got all of our paperwork organised and managed to apply for our passports.

Sewing Machine

After making the jeans bags for Christmas I got the sewing bug. Last month Kmart had sewing machines on sale - so I lay-buyed one for myself. It's very similar to mum's model, so it will be easy to use. I'm hoping to set it up this weekend and do some sewing.

I've brought a few pieces of materials - my first project is going to be to make some Babushka dolls.

SCKC Memory Pages Drive 2010

This year I decided to participate in the Southern Cross Kids Camp Memory Page Drive. You can can find more info on Julie's blog.
If you can help us out by producing co-ordinated pages for an album, here's what we need. 20 pages per album, the albums are 6"x6, with one photo per page. The pages need not be intricate, in fact simple is best, with a photo mat, and a journal spot. If you are unable to contribute pages but would love to help, we would welcome any left over alphabets, ribbons, buttons, stickers and stamps, embellishments that could be used to decorate the front covers of the children's albums. We would be extremely grateful for whatever assistance you can give.

After working out a basic layout and using a stack of old papers, scraps and journal stamps, I managed to whip up 100 pages.

I'm still here....

Well I have survived my first week at home!! I have received phone calls from friends making sure I haven't gone crazy from boredom! LOL Friends have a pool going for how long it will take me to get bored - starting from 12 days to a very generous 1 month! :) So far I have been enjoying being at home - I have been cooking up a storm. I managed to pick up a heap of Women's Weekly cook books at a book exchange. I am enjoying my new found love of cooking and so is Craig! LOL I have also done some scrapping, spring cleaning and just relaxing. Katie & Cohan have been visiting for a week, so I had more time to spend with them.

While she was here Katie decided to visit a friend in Coloundra, so Sunday morning I got a call asking if I wanted to join her, Cohan & Mum for a couple of days. I had 15 mins to pack and get ready - I love spontaneous trips!! There was lots of chatting, a bit of scrapbook shopping, sightseeing and a trip to Underwater World.
