Layouts

Another 4 layouts finished - yay! I'm happy to say that I have been using a combination of old / new stash - yay me! LOL I have also been scrapping a lot of older photos that have been waiting for years to be scrapped :)

I saw the twine embellishment idea in Australian Scrapbook Ideas (Issue 14). Love how it turned out and I will be using the idea again :)

Crochet projects

Last week Donna and Joan (her mum) came over to spend the morning learning to crochet with my mum and I. We joked it was the first meeting of the "crochet club" LOL Don't our mums look very relaxed?!?!

I had a refresher course on how to crochet decorative edges (what stitches / pattern I needed) on tea towels and finished 2 :)

Our friend Donna M had a beautiful little girl (Emily) last week), so I have been busy making her some beanies. I had to make the cute owl beanie - couldn't resist :)

I also wanted to make another beanie that I found here. This pattern looks difficult, but it was actually very simple and I crocheted the beanie up in less than 2 hours.

I got some happy mail this week - I was lucky enought to win this wonderful blog candy from Andrea's blog. I'm all set for making my Christmas cards this year :) Thank you Andrea!

May Swaps - Cards & Embellishments

This month's card swap theme at Simply Crafty was Get Well / Sympathy. It seems butterflies were a popular (and beautiful) theme for sympathy cards :)

Linda's card

Tanya's card

Cassie's card

Dilys' card

The embelishment swap was bunting - check out the cute ideas for this swap!

Thifty Thursday

I had another dentist appointment yesterday, so afterwards I popped into a few op shops for a quick look. I found the sweetest vintage suitcase for a bargain price of $2 - I snapped it up quickly when I saw it :) Craig's face was priceless when he saw me walking out of the shop with it, but he didn't question it! LOL I recently saw a great idea on a blog (can't remember which one - sorry) to use vintage suitcases as storage for crafts. I'm going to use this to store my wool - at the moment I have it in various baskets and boxes, so I think this will be a cuter storage system.

My other great find for the day was this gorgeous handbag for $2.50! Just in time too - cause the handle on my current bag is starting to break.

A few other bits & pieces for $1 each - a basket for my scrap room (I already have one like this that mum brought me from a garage sale), Tupperware container and a horse figurine for my nieves.

Reading

Kylie lent me another HUGE pile of books and I have been doing lots of reading :) I really enjoyed the first 2 books - they were about a self-sufficient society and a power struggle between upper and lower classes.

I also read book 1 & 2 of the Morganville Vampire series. This series is about a human girl going to college in a town full of vampires. I found the story in book 1 long and uninteresting, with lots of weird twists and turns. I thought the story might improve in book 2, but I didn't enjoy it either :(

A crafty weekend

I've had such a craft filled weekend :) Friday I headed to mum's to have an arts & crafts morning with her, Katie & Cohan. Cathie, Mitchell & Rylie joined us for the morning. We made shell people and pirate's telescopes (that looked like caterpillars LOL). Mum whipped up a fresh sponge cake with cream and passionfruit, so we had morning tea while the boys ran around and jumped on mum's bed! Hee hee

Friday night I met up with Tanya, Cathie and Diane at the Sew What's Crafty expo. We spent a few hours wandering around looking at all the stalls and buying some lovely scrapping goodies :)

Saturday night I made my Simply Crafty May swaps. Cards swaps were Sympathy / Get Well and embellishment swaps were bunting.

Today I spent the day scrapping and chatting at Simply Crafty. I got 3 layouts started - so will work on them over the week :) Will share photos of the cards / embellishment swaps soon.

Thrifty Thursday

Going back to part time work means I have Wednesdays and Frdays off, so I popped into a couple of op shops yesterday :) At the first shop I found this huge Tupperware container. At $6 it's a bit more than I would usually pay, but it matched the one I brought a few weeks ago. I also found another pastie maker for 50c - this one is much bigger than the other ones I brought recently. It's funny - I've been looking for some for months, and now I've found them, I found more in 2 different op shops today! Guess I should have looked in the op shops first! LOL

At the same shop I brought this basket (approx 50cm x 30cm) for $3.50. I'm going to use it to store my punches - at the moment I have them in two baskets and have to dig through them to find what I'm looking for. Using this basket will means no more digging and I will see the punches at a glance :) At the 2nd shop we went to I scored this bag of play-doh tools for $2.50 - these will be great for when the kids come over :)

I love seeing all the gorgeous Pyrex pieces that Yvette and Charlotte find on their op-shop visits, so thought I would keep any eye out for some. At the last shop I found this sweet pyrex dish in great condition (no chips!) for $4.

I also found this gorgeous shirt at the same shop for $3.50.

Mother's Day cards

I made 3 Mother's Day cards this year! Andrew asked me to make a card that he could give to Cathie from Rylie :)

I made similar cards for my mum and MIL - just a few differences and in their fave colours (purple for my mum and blue for MIL).

Another fun-filled weekend

Saturday morning I made some cards and scrapped, then in the afternoon I had friends over for a Tupperware party :) Donna is now a demonstrator and asked me to hold a party - so I thought it would be a great chance to catch up with friends. Afterwards we had some afternoon tea and chatted. Donna asked me / mum to show her how to crochet, so we got out some wool & hooks and taught her to make granny squares.

Sunday was Mother's Day - Craig's mum stayed the weekend with us, so in the morning we went to the markets and wandered around looking at all the stalls. Then we headed to the beach to meet up with Mum, Kate & Cohan. We played soccer in the park, looked for shells and built sandcastles on the beach, then had fish & chips. The weather was perfect and we all had a fantastic day!

I seem to be scxrapping layouts faster than I am blogging about them lately! LOL I went to a midnight crop last week and managed to get 4 LO started - over the week I have finished these three :)

Winter crochet projects

Now the weather is turning cooler, I've started looking around for some new crochet projects to create. After making LOTS of beanies last year, I want to try something new and have been thinking about making some head wraps. I found 2 good patterns for head wraps and a cute headband pattern!

Layouts

Just popping in to share some more LO I have scrapped this week :) I have no idea where this burst of scrappy motivation has come from - but I'm not complaining!
