Humorous cards

I brought a new set of stamps on the weekend and couldn't wait to ink them up :) They are humorous sentiments (something I don't have in my stash) and I thought they would be perfect quick & easy cards. After I stamped them and coloured them in, I thought they were a little plain, so I added googly eyes and some washi tape.

June embellishment swap

We had the choice of either stamped image or denim for this month's embellishment swap theme. I opted to make a denim embellishmment - the anchor (loving my new die!).

Birthday celebration

It was my birthday on Thursday - usually I have the day off (who wants to work on their birthday?!?! LOL), but this year I worked.  I had a great day with lots of calls & messages and fabulous presents -Craig brought me a palariod camera - LOVE!.

And some beautiful handmade cards (Tanya & Cathie)

Cathie & mum dropped in and had lunch with me and Kylie popped in to visit too.  Last night we had a belated celebratory dinner - an Asian banquet - at mum's. It was delicious - everyone brought a dish (honey prawns, fried rice, pork wantons, etc) and we enjoyed a relaxing night catching up.

Today I went to Simply Crafty. I was more productive this month - less chatting and more scrapping :) I left a bit earlier than usual, so that Craig and I could go to the movies. We went and saw "Hangover 3". It wasn't as hilarious as the first two movies, but still a great storyline and good movie.

Cards - Part 1

Over the long weekend I decided to make it a goal to finish the 5 cards that had been sitting on my desk for a few months. They were mostly card bases that I had stamped / started creating, but were the wrong colour, left over from card swaps, etc.

This card was leftover from the girls card swap at Simply Crafty a few moths ago. The rose is also a left over from last month's card swap.

This card I stamped the woodgrain background with the idea of making a bird theme card, but then lost inspiration - oops!  Recently I saw a great tutorial to make the sweet birds nest on the Bo Bunny blog and used that as the starting point to create this card.  I decided to make  it shabby chic, ao went through my stast and foudn the doiley and bird stamps.

This card I wanted to try the technique of inking the embossing folder.  I struggled with ideas for the dark background,  I decided to cut the circle and use cream cardstock behind the background to show up the stamped image better and coloured cogs to brighten the card up.

Pop back tomorrow when i will share the other 2 cards.

So much wonderful thrifted goodness this week :)  On the weekend I went to the Rotary book fair twice and found some books for me, my aunty and my nieces.

Tuesday I hit 6 (wowsers!!) op shops :) I found another gorgeous quilt (lap size) for $5. It looks like it has been made recently and never been used.

Novel $3, cook book $2.95, gorgeous bead necklace $4, hand painted wooden brooch 50c and (brand new) plastic tea/coffee/sugar container (for my mum - perfect for her caravan when she buys it) $1.50.

Snail mail

A few months ago Magdalena at The Craft Revival blogged about a Creative Pen Pal sign up. It was such a great idea - I signed up immediately :) It seems there are a LOT of like minded people,, Magdalena had nearly 200 people sign up! While I was waiting to be matched with my new pen pal I went on the look out for some pretty stationary. I wasn't having any luck finding any stationary till Mel posted a picture on Facebook of some writing paper one of her lovely readers sent her. seem to be any nice stationary,   I went straight to the shop and stocked up on writing paper :) I recieved my first letter from my pen pal last week - so exciting :)

On the topic of snail mail.. My prize from Couture Creations arrived :) How gorgeous is this parcel?!?  Kraft paper, doiley and twine - perfect!!

Sunset background card

I seem to be playing catch up to share the projects I made last weekend. I decided to attempt another sponged background card. I am much happier with the stamping technique I tried this time - less s;otchy / patchy :)

Vintage sewing gift tag & paper flower

I thought I would try something a little different - a gift tag. I tried to make a vintage / collage type tag.

While I had the sewing pattern paper out I decided to make a matching shabby chic flower to match the gift tag. I thought these would be sweet on a kraft bok or gift bag.

I realised it's been ages since I've shared pics of my Blythe. I won some sweet dresses on ebay recently - so thought it was a good time to share pics :)

What a day!

What a crazy day I had yesterday! One of the guys found a python wrapped around the rafters at work. I think they were hoping to give me a scare with it, but I like snakes LOL It was a pretty big size - Jack released it into the bushland behind the workshop.

Then in the afternoon I found out that I was lucky to win this prize pack from Couture Creations :)
