Multicultural Festival

Yesterday we took Diane, Andrew and Brodie (nephew & niece) to visit the Childers Multicultural Festival. None of us had ever been before, so it was a lovely adventure for us :) These was lots to see, do and eat! We wandered around looking at the various market stalls (I even managed to find a scrapbooking stall - bliss! LOL)

Andrew wanted to get his finger prints done at the police stand.

Some of the fun things we saw -

We tried lots of new and different foods -

We also caught up with Skye and Brandee-Paij :)

With tummies full and sore legs, we headed home after a wonderful day out :)

Blythe

I thought it was time I got my Blythe some new outfits :) I remembered that i had seen a lady selling very cheap handmade Barbie / Ken clothes at the local markets. I popped out to the markets last Sunday and brought this sweet dress, 2 jumpers, 2 skirts and a shirt all for a bargain price of $13! The jumpers are a little big, but everything else fitted well. I'm hoping to buy a few more bits & pieces from the same seller. Now I just need to find some shoes for her :)

Reading

I loved this trilogy! Each book had a great storyline and twists - great reading! The books are about a girl who was switched at birth and finds out she is a Troll Princess.  Lots of acttion and suspense in all the books as well as some romance :)

Thrifty Thursday

I popped into a few smaller op-shops last Friday, I was disappointed that there wasn't much there :( Despite that, I did manage to find something that I had been keeping an eye out for... a small black backpack. I want one for our cruise - so that I can put my wallet, camera & water in when we go on shore tours. I found this one in perfect condition and only $3!!

I realised I hadn't shared this cute glass jar - mum brought it for me a few months ago from a garage sale for $3.

I love how it has 2 different sections - what a great idea! It's going to be filled with buttons and live in my scrap room :)

Layouts

I had a productive day today - gotta love a mid-week RDO! After doing the housework and a couple loads of washing - I had the rest of the afternoon to play in my scraproom :) I started working on some cards, but realised I didn't have the right sentiment stamp for it (will have to ask around and see if one of my scrappy friends has something I could use). I did have more sucess with next month's card swap (male cards) - I have them half finished :) I also managed to finish these 2 LO's - yay me!

Pink dragon card

I brought this cute stamp from Lorna Blue Studio recently - I loved the gorgeous cards that Helen created with it (including the sweet one she made for my birthday last year).

I should have trialled the colours on a scrap piece of paper first, because they ended up being very bright! He he I'm still tying new colouring / blending techniques, so don't look too closely at my colouring :) I'm happy with how this turned out - will try making a few more cards with this stamp (and more of my fave washi tape!).

Punch art card

I saw this cute idea for a punch art lawnmower card and knew it would be a perfect card for a number of males in our family. I decided to sponge a cloud background for more interest (thanks Lorelle for teaching me that technique) and stamped the sentiment. I added twine as the finishing touch - love it :)

Thrifty Thursday

I popped into one of my fave op shops last weekend and managed to find all these goodies for less than $10 - score!!

My most exciting bargain - this bag of biscuit cutters for a whopping $2!! Serious happy dance when I found these! LOL I have a few tins full of cutters (I have a bit of an addiction LOL) - so I will go through and share any doubles with mum :)

I found 3x bags of wooden beads (great for arts & craft days with the kids) for 50c each, book $2.50 and cute red bead necklace 50c.

Sweet biscuit tin for $2. I already have a larger tin in the same design that I store most of my sewing stuff in (there isn't enough room for all the bits & pieces), so I will use this one to store the rest of it in.

Last find was this cute ceramic hippo jar for $1 - I'll give this to Lacey to store her "treasures".

I'm linking up with Her Library Adventures.

Christmas in July

We celebrated Christmas in July at Simply Crafty yesterday. As usual another wonderful day of scrapping and catching up with everyone :) We had a delicious lunch then did Secret Santa. This was my lovely gift - a set of sweet Christmas photo frames.

We also had card and embellishment swaps - will share photos tomorrow. Once again i was a social butterfly, but did manage to get a card finished and start 2 layouts (will hopefully get them finished on the weekend).

After Simply Crafty, Craig and I went to a family BBQ for my nephew's birthday. It was lovely to spend the afternoon chatting with everyone, just a shame that it go too cold to stay out longer :(

Reading

I'm still reading a variety of books lately :) This is book 2 in the Bloodlines series and it was a fantastic as the 1st book! Loving the storyline of the vampires and Alchemists - this book had lots of great twists and went a bit further into the storyline from the first book.

Book 2 of the Legacy series - the story continues with the 2 kingdoms at war. There was suspense and twists that made it hard to put this book down! I can't wait for the final book in the series :)

This was a good read - it had enough differences compared to the movie, to keep me interested.

Thrifty Thursday and a vintage shop

I managed two days of op shopping this week :) Saturday I popped into one shop while we out shopping. I found these cute glasses (50c each) and 2 cookbooks ($2 each). I LOVE Women's Weekly cookbooks - a lot of my favourite / most cooked recipes come from them. i already have the Chinese cookbook, so I picked up a copy for mum.

Yesterday I went to see "Mirror Mirror" at the movies. It was a wonderful film and a lot more humorous than I was expecting - I really enjoyed it :) After the movies I popped into 2 op shops - I got soome goodies in the first shop, but walked out empty-handed from the 2nd shop. I picked up some more Tupperware (great size for storing leftovers) - orange bowl $2.00 and red bowl $1.00. I also got 3 teaspoons (20c each) for the tea cup bird feeder project and this gorgeous square tablecloth ($1.00) - I'm thinking I might use this for a sewing project.

While I was wandering enjoying some retail therapy I found this cute vintage shop - A Little Vintage. I asked the owner if I could take some pictures of her gorgeous shop :)

I brought this sweet carved wooden brooch that just had to come home with me :) I've been looking for a wooden brooch for ages, so was happy to see the ones at the shop and was even happier that it was on sale :)

Blythe

The minute I saw these gorgeous dolls I was smitten! I admired the dolls on a variety of blogs that I regularly read and considered buying one. It took over 12 month of umming and aahing about definitely buying one though. After some research (dolls, sellers, etc) and an email to the lovely Janelle about my concerns (getting a fake doll, etc), I chose the doll I wanted. I found a seller and brought a Nicky Lad Blythe doll!! She arrived this week :)
