Ripple Blanket Week 8

It's been ages (nearly 6 weeks - oops!) since I've shared a blanket update. Things got a bit hectic / busy and then I was just lazy, but I'm determined to get the blanket finished this year. I got 6 rows done over the weekend - I thought I might struggle remembering the stiches / pattern, but I was crocheting away immediately :)

Craig's trip to Melbourne

Craig went to Melbourne for 3 days this week for a very exciting game of soccer / football - Melbrouvne Victory FC v Liverpool FC.  Craig has been a HUGE Liverpool fan for most of his life and seeing Liverpool play has been on his 'bucket list'.  A trip to Europe is still a few years off, but luckily he managed to buy tickets to see them play in Australia. He also brought a ticket to see the training session.

Craig flew down to Melbourne early Tuesday morning, went to Federation Square to buy some LFC merchandise (with other other thousands of fans LOL) and that night he went to watch the training session.  He was hoping to get his jersey signed, but wasn't lucky enough.  Wednesday he did some sightseeing, ran into our friend Jools (Hi Joolz!) who took him on a tour of her workplace, then it was time for the game!!  It was a sold out game with 95,500 fans - Craig said it was amazing to hear so many people singing the LFC supporter song "You'll never walk alone".   The game was very exciting with a Liverpool win 2-0!

Thursday morning Craig was up early to catch a flight home - he had an amazing trip :)  He was super sweet and brought me home a present.... this set of dolls from the Babushka shop we found on our last trip to Melbourne :)

Thrifty Thursday

I had another fun day of op shopping on Monday :) Loving all the random thrifty goodness I'm finding!  I'm always jealous of people finding owl things and I have finally found my own!!  Own figurine $5,

Red clutch purse $2.95, cook book 50c (I love this cook book and buy a copy to give to family and friends everytime I find it) and a crochet/knitting book $1.

Some pink pottery finds!! Bowl (South Seas) $1, chip/dip platter $2 and a pie dish (Crown - similar colour and bit bigger than the one I found last week) $3.

I'm linking up with Sir-Thrift-Alot this week.

I had another productive / scrappy RDO today - 3 new layouts :)

Yoda punch art card

I wanted to make a Star Wars themed card for my nephew's birthday, so searched google for ideas. There were lots of amazing punch art cards and I found the perfect one to CASE(unfortunately I can't find the link to share the original card), but with a few changes. I think my nephew will love it :)

Thrifty Thursday

I had an exciting day of op shopping on Monday :)  I was super excited to find something on my 'wish list'! I found the purple casserole cover - in brand new condition for only $1 - woo hoo! I also picked up the frilly pink / green apron for $1.50.

A pair of Guess sunglasses (not sure if they are authentic or knock offs) $2.

The cane basket was $1 (I'm thinking about using this to store my letter writing things). The green Tupperware bowl was $3 - yes I already found one previously, but due to an unfortunate microwave incident (which Craig now knows to listen to me when I suggest not putting the older style Tupperware in the microwave!!). The four striped napkins where 50c each, brand new with their $3.95 each price tags still on :)

Sweet ceramic rabbits 50c each - will use these to decorate for Easter next year.

I managed to get 5 layouts started at Simply Crafty on Sunday (less chatting and more scrapping this month LOL).  On my RDO on Tuesday I spent the day scrapping and finished them :)

The first layout is for the D=lish Scraps 4th birthday celebration challenge - I loved the layout and colours in the inspiration booard!

July Embellishment swap

This month's embellishment swap was flowers.  As there were only 5 people participating in the swap, I made both of the burlap flowers.

July card swap

Yesterday I enjoyed another lovely day at Simply Crafty.  We celebrated Christmas in July - we shared a delicous lunch (where quiche and caramel tarts seemed to be the theme LOL), had Secret Santa gifts (everyone was very happy with their gifts), swapped cards & embellishments and scrapped :)

This month's card swap theme was Christmas cards.

My card -  I've made this card design before, but googled some new ideas for the belt buckle :)

Blythe

I've been wanting another Blythe doll since I got my first one (other Blythe fans did warn that they were addictive and you can't stop at one! LOL), so I've been searching for a new doll. I didn't want to pay out a lot of money, so decided to go with a Basaak doll (Blythe clone). The seller that I brought the shoes from also sold Basaak dolls, so ordered one from her. My sweet new doll arrived last week!   I think she's gorgeous :)
