Kayaking Adventure

This morning mum, Clay and I headed off on an adventure to check out a possible new paddling spot.  Mum used to cross the river at the original bridge when they would come into town from the farm when she was younger.  She hadn't been out at Smith's Crossing for decades, so it was nice for her to have a look around.

We checked out the river and were concerned about getting the kayaks and ourselves down to the water, but decided to give it a go.  While we waited for friends to join us, we had a look around the picnic / park area, admired all the beautiful butterflies that were fluttering around, had some morning tea and feed the catfish in the river.

The local vintage car club was out for a Sunday drive and picnic, so Clay went and had a look at all their cars :)

Some geese on the river.

Once everyone arrived, we checked out the launch area, got all the kayaks out and onto the river for a paddle!  I was a little concerned taking Clay up the deep river with me, but as usual he was awesome- just sat back out of the way of my paddle and didn't rock the kayak :)  He had a few paddles by himself  - he's very confident paddling off.  He did get stuck in the weeds, but listened to our instructions and got himself out.  Mum and I have decided to ti a rope on next time, so we can pull him back in if he gets too far away lol

After we had a few paddles each, we splashed about enjoying the cool water.

It was another wonderful adventure )  Clay and I are still working on convincing Craig to buy our own kayak ;)
