I really loved workng on the ripple blanket for Jaxson and decided to make one for myself :) I decided to make it in shades of pink & grey and brought the wool while i was still making the first blanket.
While I was out shopping one day I saw a lady wearing a chevron print shirt in grey, white, pinks & blues and knew that would be the perfect colour combo for my blanket! I found the perfect teal coloured wool, but couldn't find a paaler shade of teal to suit. After looking around for weeks I decided to just use a light blue to match the light pink.
I was a bit hesitant to start the blanket - I didn't want te have the same problems getting the first couple of rows correct. It only took 1 attempt to get started - woo hoo! I didn't like the pale shade of pink, so I unpicked the row and used a baby pink instead.

Stampin' Up! class
I went to another fun class with Bron today - we made an OTP and card.
The OTP was a box-ina-a-bag with a gift tag. A very clever idea for packaging small gifts (chocolates, jewellry, etc).
The card was an interlocking gate fold card. A great technique - something I had been wanting to try!

Crochet puppy beanie
While searching for crochet ideas I found this adorable puppy beanie and knew I just had to make it for Jaxson :)
I found this free pattern at Repeat Crafter Me - it was easy to understand and very quick to crochet up (it only took a few hours while I was watching TV last weekend). Make sure you pop over and check out Sarah's other free crochet patterns, recipes and crafts!
I'll post the beanie off this week - can't wait to see pics of bub wearing it :)

Simply Crafty
I had a very productive day at Simply Crafty today :) I have realised that being organised is the key to my motivation and productivity, so I am going to pack layout kits. I packed 5 new kits (any that didn't get scrapped will be ready for the next time I scrap) and 2 embellishment kits for layouts I had already started. I am pleased to say that I managed to work on 6 layouts :) I will be finishing them during the week.
Cathie organised a demonstration on how to make tissue paper pom pom decorations.
Danielle is currently organising her little girl's birthday party, so we all gave her our pom poms - decorations sorted :D

Shabby chic card and bag-o-lope
On Saturday night I asked the girls around for a Stampin' Up! party with Bron. Bron showed us how to make this gorgeous shabby chic card.
Then she demonstrated how to make this cute bag using an envelope - a bag-o-lope - what a clever idea!
This would be a great idea for party favours.

Hexagon Card
After I scrapped my layout on Thursday I decided to make a card using the scraps. I brought the hexagon embossing folder recently and thought a card I saw in the recent Stampin' Up! mini catalogue would be perfect to recreate :)

I got to pop into one op shop on the weekend :) It's not one of my usual shops, but I still managed to find some goodies.
A bundle of bias binding for 50c and 2x zippers (for more flower brooches) 50c each.
More Tupperware for $2 each - can't resist the retro colours :)

Leaf Cards
Over the weekend I wanted to have a play with some new leaf dies and this is the card I created :) I think this could be either a sympathy or male birthday card.
While I had everything out I decided to make a 2nd card, but change the background by stamping some colourful leeaves.

Zipper flower brooch
I wanted to do a quick & easy craft project over the weekend and decided to make a zipper flower brooch (using the zip I brought op shopping a few months ago). After a quick google search I found this tutorial and it was the exact flower design I wanted to make. The video is not in English - but it is very easy to follow.

Ripple-along Week 5
I have finished my blanket! Woo hoo! I was going to do 12 colour repeats, but as I was working along I decdied to finish at 10 repeats. I crocheted the last 12 rows during the week and then sewed all the threads in on Friday night while I was watching a DVD. I was a bit pushed to get this finished, because it looks like my baby nephew is coming a bit earlier than planned (Kate had a c-section booked for next Monday 8th April).
5 total - 12 rows / 6 bands
Total - 102 rows / 51 bands
Make sure you pop over to Mel's blog to click on the other links to see all the other blankets.
