Whale watching

Yesterday morning we were up early and headed to Hervey Bay to go on a whale watching tour!   We had been saying every year we should go, and this year we arranged it as our anniversary present to each other :)  We went on a 4 hour tour past Fraser Island into Platypus Bay to see the humpback whales.  The weather was perfect and we got to see a few pods of playful whales.  We were lucky enough to have a mother and calf swim next to our boat, then swim underneath, so we  got to have a close up look at them :)  The boat had a hydrophone so that we could hear the whales singing - it was magical!  The tour guide said that the whales don't always play / jump out of the water (breaching), but we were lucky to see a couple of whales breaching, tail slapping, etc.  We also saw a pod of dolphins playing next to the boat and a sea turtle swimming by.  The whole tour was amazing!  We got to take LOTS of photos -
