Pregnancy Week 33 - 37

Week 33
Our long awaited for appointment to Brisbane.  We had appointments with the obstetrician and anesthetist to discuss birthing options.   We have been advised that I need to go to Brisbane at 36 weeks to have another ultrasound and then wait to have baby.  They have advised that if baby is still breech. then I will be having a c-section at 38-39 weeks.  I had a blood test and booked in the ultrasound.  We popped into Ronald McDonald House discuss the accommodation and book in our stay.

I packed the nappy bag and my hospital bag (yes I did buy the cute car bag after I found out we were having a boy LOL).

Week 34
The random vomitting and nausea has returned.  Baby is still very active - I spend so much time just watching him move around my belly.  Amanda has had a de-clutter and dropped off a disposable nappy bin, 2 boxes and 1 bag of baby clothes, blankets, toys, etc - we are now pretty much set for clothes until baby is 2 years old :)

I had my last antenatal clinic visit till Brisbane.  I have had a few Braxton Hicks - that was interesting!

Week 35
My belly seems to have "popped" from out of nowhere and we realised that we hadn't taken any belly shots to record my pregnancy - so Craig decided to snap some pics :)

I sorted through Amanda's stuff and Craig set up the cot.

Week 36
Mum and I travel down to Brisbane and settle into Ronald McDonald House.  I have an ultrasound to check baby's position - he has finally turned around from breech position and is head down ready :)

Week 37
I had an appointment with the obstetrician to discuss my birth plan.  After a discussion and explaining my reasons - the doctor agrees to a c-section which we book in!  I have 2x antenatal clinic visits to check my blood pressure.

Ronald McDonald House

While we were in Brisbane, we stayed in the Ronald McDonald House.  It was the perfect "home away from home" and only a few minutes walk to the hospital.  There are 2 houses at RMH - with rooms on the upper levels, and communal kitchens and dining rooms downstairs.  Our kitchen / dining room was being renovated for the first 2 weeks we were there, so we just had to use the kitchen in the other house.  House 1 had the reception and quiet room (adults only).House 2 had the lounge room, 2 kids activity rooms, BBQ / balcony area and the laundry.  Our room was in House 1 and was lovely and spacious, with a balcony that overlooked some bushland and the back of the hospital.  We would spend afternoons watching the birds and people coming & going.

Mum and I were a bit worried we would spend most of our time in our room and get bored easily, but after a few days we met some lovely ladies and spent time with them.  We would catch up at meal times and then started to have "movie nights" - watching movies in the communal lounge room.

Every Wednesday night a community group would come in to prepare and serve a meal and dessert.  Menus were posted beforehand, so we knew what we were having.  The week before Easter we were spoilt with a Wednesday night meal, a hot breakfast Thursday morning and then an Easter meal on Friday night.  The Treasury Casino prepared the Easter meal - it was a delicious buffet and the had a lolly buffet where the kids could decorate their own Easter eggs (handmade by the casino).

Nautical Theme Bunting

Baby's nursery is nearly finished - all the furniture is set up and I've finished washing all the clothes & linen.  Now just to add the decorations / finishing touches.  I stitched up some cute fabric bunting to hang on the windows.  I want to make a matching patchwork cot quilt, but think that will have to wait till after he arrives :)

Cards

I made some quick & easy watercolour notecards to send to one of my penpals.  Love the effect of the watercolour backgrounds - very quick to create.

Baby Shower - Decorations

I had my long awaited baby shower a last month (finally got copies of all the photos so I could post).  I was so excited to be able to catch up with family and friends to celebrate the impending arrival of our precious little man!  When I walked into the function room I was totally blown away - I had a vision of how I thought it would look, but Kylie & Cathie exceeded all my visions.  Kylie was the main decorator - she took my nautical theme and colours and incorporated all the small details to make it so amazing!

The cake table - this also had 2 jars one for "mummy advice" and "Wishes for baby".

The cake - delicious carrot cake
