Any of my regular visitors will know my mum is a garage sale fanatic - she rang me this morning to ask if I wanted a pantry cupboard for my scrap room (no, I didn't get it). I could actually picture her - mobile in one hand, the other hand clutching the cupboard and giving other bargain hunters the death stare if they came near her!! LOL Okay, I am going somewhere with this....I thought I would share some of my recent "treasures" mum has brought me...
My favourite is the lace plate - how amazing is that? Mum is a total bargain hunter - the 2 plates were $2 each and the soup tureen was $3!! Sometimes I ask my mum to keep an eye out for specific items (eg the soup tureen) - she loves the challenge. Mum's favourite thing is to buy pine furniture / items and do them up - currently she is working on a blanket box she picked up for $5. I have asked her to look for wire baskets that I can use for storage in my scrap room.
I don't think I have mentioned it, but Mum and I are making cupcakes for the wedding next weekend - orange & poppy seed - yummo!! Mum spent the day here and we made the green icing frangipani flowers to go on the cakes today - very cute! I also made a batch of cupcakes to try out a recipe. I will be taking them to Simply Crafty for afternoon tea tomorrow. Mum got out her sewing machine and fixed up the straps and top of my new dress - so it fits a lot better now. While she was sewing I also got her to take up some jeans and replace the elastic in some tops - gotta love mum :o)
I went to the Creative Artz midnight crop last night. I love the new chipboard & acrylic stuff - especially the acrylic mushrooms - too cute!! I managed to work on 5 LO and a card - none finished though (what's new?!?!). Will do a bit more scrapping tonight and tomorrow.

My dress arrived!!
It arrived a couple of days ago - I'm so excited!! The background colour is navy, not black like I thought, so I will just wear my silver shoes - saves me from having to go shoe shopping!! The dress is a bit big around the bust and longer than I thought - so much for measuring myself at least 20 times!! LOL I absolutely love it - it's a LOT brighter than my usual style :o)
While I was shopping around on ebay for my dress, I did a litle retail therapy for some scrap stuff and it arrived today! I got Cosmo Cricket spinner cards, glitter felt (so gorgeous)and some other bits & pieces. I've also brought a stack of new papers and am looking forward to doing some more scrapping! Good thing I have a midnight crop tomorrow night at Creative Artz, plus this Sunday is Simply Crafty!

I'm running out of titles....
I managed to finish this LO on the weekend. I started it at last month's Simply Crafty, but just needed to add a title and the embellishments. It was for Black Magic March sketch #1 - but I ran out of time...
Craig & I went to a BBQ for our friend Donna's 40th on Sunday. I made her this card in her favourite colour! It was about 6"x 7" - to use up a piece of scrap card stock. Craig kept teasing me about the card being bigger than the present (a Singstar game) and that I wanted my card to stand out the most!! LOL
While I was in the craft room, Craig was in the kitchen making a "Death by Chocolate" birthday cake! It was to die for - let me know if you would like the recipe. Craig was kept busy making birthday cakes this week - he also make a Lemon Meringue pie on Thursday night for another birthday. It was delicious - it wasn't tart, more like a lemon custard and the meringue was like marshmallow - YUMMO!! I'm not sure if I've mentioned it before, but Craig actually used to work as a chef. He cooks the most amazing meals and desserts(when he feels like it)!! Just in case anyone was wondering why Craig was making cakes and I wasn't!! LOL
Sunday night I finished my White With 1 neutrals embellishment swap.
I can't wait to see what the other's have made!!

Here we go...
I finally got myself organised! Here are the two LO I did last weekend - pics added and photographed!! LOL
This LO was created for Scrap The Girls April challenge. It was a colour combo challenge using these colours..
I normally don't scrap with yellow and found I kept adding green embellishments to the LO?!?!
This LO was created from a sketch in this month's (Vol 11 Number 2) Scrapbooking Memories magazine. It was a great way to use up all the little strips of Sassafras & Cosmo Cricket papers I had been hoarding :o) I really love the sketch and will use it again.
Invitations for our work's award night were given out today - this year's theme is Prom Night. Yep, cheesy prom photo booth, crowning of prom King & Queen, etc!! LOL Last year's was a Masquerade Murder Mystery - it was brilliant!! I can't wait!!

D'oh...
I finally got my pics printed and finished my LO yesterday, but when I went to take pics this morning the camera batteries were flat!! LOL
We got another wedding invitation - chocolate, sun burnt orange & gold - very classy! I've gotten a bit "dress" obsessed ATM - I have 2 weddings & our work awards night coming up in the new few months. I've been checking out ebay - I've managed to get one dress (for the garden wedding) and have a found a few others I like (semi formal). Now I'm on the search for a pair of black, strappy heels! I'm not sure how I'll go - all the winter stock is coming in.
I got my flu shot yesterday - my arm's a bit sore today, but no other side effects.

Easter weekend...
We had a lovely, relaxing long weekend - bliss!! Saturday I went to Kylie's for lunch (spag bol - delicious - thanks Kylie!) with her & Cathie - we were supposed to watch a DVD, but spent the afternoon chatting instead :o) I made another 5 cement mushrooms - hmmm I seem to be getting as addicted as my mum!! LOL
Easter morning we went over and spent a few hours with DH's family. My MIL brought my nephew a remote control Tarantula - yep, looked as awful as it sounds!! LOL Our niece Brodie decided that since Nan (MIL) was sleeping over our house, then she was going to as well :o) Brodie and the puppies had a ball running around and playing together.
We went to visit my Gran today - she was pretty tired, so we didn't get to chat much :o( It has been pouring down rain, so we just watched TV & relaxed for the rest of the day. I did some more scrapping and made a batch of sushi - yum!!
I've been scrapping up a storm this weekend! Saturday night I had a go at this Month's challenge at Black With Two. I managed to add 20 brads - I only had 19, but managed to find a ribbon slider brad - phew!! He he
Today I've been working on this month's Scrap the Girls challenge. I'm nearly finished - I just need to get the pics printed tomorrow.

Happy mail & a LO...
This gorgeous wedding invite arrived Thursday!
This is different from any wedding invite I've received / seen - very shabby chic! I have to confess it wasn't a complete surprise...I was lucky enough to help the bride-to-be make these last weekend :o)
I also received this parcel...
I joined the Fiskateers a few months ago and they sent me a pair of Fiskars scissors! What's pretty cool about them is if you look carefully on the blades, you will see they have engraved my membership number!! DH was more impressed with the funky, orange paper packing.
I scrapped this LO yesterday. It's the April challenge pack from one of my LSS - how delicious is that chocolate, pink & cream colour combo?!?! I've been itching to scrap this all week! I had a few ideas I wanted to use (ripped/folded section, handmade paper flowers, distressing), but had struggled a bit with the general LO and how to use some of the embellishments (paper clip, braid, pipe cleaners, etc). I love how this turned out :o) And yes, this is the 3rd time I've scrapped this pic - I can't help it - I absolultely adore this pic of DH & I!
I have nearly completed another LO - I just need to print & add the pics and it's all finished!! I'm off to Kylie's for lunch, movie and catch up with Kylie & Cathie today. I hope everyone else is enjoying their Easter long weekend :o)

Cement mushrooms...
My first batch of mushrooms have settled into their new homes :o) Kylie brought gnomes and a cute lady bug to add to her garden.
Cathie's mushrooms are orange to suit all the beautiful orange coloured flowers/plants in her garden.

What a week....
Thank you to everyone that came to the BBQ for Craig's birthday last weekend or sent cards, emailed, rang, etc! Here's the birthday boy - how impressed does he look having his photo taken (not the best quality pic - sorry)?!?! LOL You think he would be used to it by now!! :o)
Katie & Cohan were up for the weekend. I can't believe how much he's grown/changed in the month since we've seen him!
I've been pretty lazy blogger this week. DH & I have been enjoying the week off to just relax! DH & his mum did a lot of fishing (caught 1 bream) and trying out his new crab pots (both mum's brought them for his birthday)- no crabs yet though. I have been watching DVDs (I got to watch all of "Ugly Betty" season 2-I absolutely love that show!!), done some scrapping and indulged in a bit of retail therapy :o)
Creative Artz moved to their new home at 103 Gavin Street, North Bundaberg over the weekend. I went over and helped Donna unpack some stuff on Monday & Tuesday. On Thursday night I went to Kylie's class - her sketch was amazing!! I am going to use it again!! Pop over to her blog to check out her class list.
This is my LO from the class...
I managed to get a few LO completed and I am really pleased with how they turned out, especially the one of Lacey - I tried some layering effects. I even created a double LO - which is a rarity for me.
This LO was inspired from Colour Combos that Belinda had up on her blog. First pic of Bec and Connor :o)
This morning I got my hair trimmed and coloured - no pics yet though. One more day of freedom, then back to work :o) At least I have a 4 day weekend over Easter LOL
