Day 8 - Wellington

We decided to do a P&O shore tour for Wellington - a 4 hour bus tour of Capital City, Cable Car And Marine Drive. First stop was the Funicular Cable Car Ride, one of Wellington's oldest and most popular tourist attractions offering a unique form of transport from the city to the suburb of Kelburn. In three and a half minutes the cable car journeys from Lambton Quay, through three tunnels, past Kelburn Park and Victoria University to the suburb of Kelburn.

From there we went to the Lady Norwood Rose Garden, located in the heart of the Wellington Botanical Gardens. The best time to see the roses in full bloom is at Christmas, but there was still a lot of gorgeous roses to see and smell :) There was also a gorgeous Memorial Garden with a waterfall and the greenhouse had the most stunning flowers & plants.

Back into the bus and up to Mount Victoria with spectacular 360 degree view of the city and surrounds!

Then we traveled the beautiful Marine Drive, taking in Oriental Bay and the many other scenic bays of Wellington Harbour. We had a few unsheduled stops - one to see this amazing building made entirely from timber (which is common in NZ).

We also stopped to take pics of NZ Parliment buildings, our boat docked and this quiant little church.

After the tour we took the shuttle bus back to the boat. Craig went for a nap, while Mum and I sat in The Dome and had a few cocktails while the boat was doing a sunset cruise to our next port. Craig's nap went for a bit too long, cause Mum and I ended up getting a bit tipsy on cocktails LOL Craig arrives as we are admiring the sunset and scenery, so I thought I would play a joke on Mum and said to her "Look there's a whale" and pointed to a dark spot in the ocean. Mum looks out, gets really excited and says "Oh my God! It is too!". I thought she was just playing along, but after a closer look realised that there seriously was a whale swimming along!! LOL Talk about having a joke backfire on you!!! ROFLMAO
